In the weeks following our time at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, we’ve taken some time to reflect on the whirlwind week we had showcasing our mgr Changing Tides Garden to the world. Working with the most inspiring team, headed by the highly talented and creative landscape designer, Lucy Mitchell, of La La Landscapes, our container garden was extremely well received by both judges and visitors to the show, and was awarded a prestigious gold medal.

Paying tribute to the shingle beaches dotted along the Kent coastline and the hardiness of the vegetation that populates it, our mgr Changing Tides Garden was a celebration of nature’s resilience and adaptability to the harsh and ever-changing conditions faced each day. Throughout its conception, design, build, and display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, our mgr Changing Tides Garden had a clear message at its core; the importance of sustainability and resilience. From the reclaimed materials used to make the boundary, planters and shingle floor, to sourcing pre-used boulders from previous show gardens, and featuring some rarely noticed, but exceptionally hardy plants that always “find a way” to survive, Lucy’s love and care for our planet is undeniable.

We were also thrilled and extremely lucky to partner with Paul Rose, who not only presented our garden to the press on 20th May, but spread the message far and wide. He invited along with him The Royal Geographical Society, National Geographic and Earthwatch, who each collaborated with us to ensure the importance of our message was emphasised and the legacy continued. Paul’s involvement continued throughout show week, making our garden something of a tourist attraction on press day, dressed head-to-toe in his scuba diving gear! Paul welcomed and chatted with guests about his connection with the mgr Changing Tides Garden and the wider aspects of his life’s work, provoking thought and consideration of environmental impact.

As our business continues to strive towards more sustainable practices, it was an honour to be able to drive Lucy and Paul’s missions through our mgr Changing Tides Garden.

From our very initial sponsorship discussions, the alignment between our business and Lucy’s vision was obvious.  The ‘changing tides’ theme acts as a profound metaphor for how we view our business and the current economic climate faced by our clients. Resilience being the key word reflected in both the garden and our constant efforts to “find a way” for all of our clients, adapting to the ever-present, always changing tides. Like the “extremely resilient plants” used in the garden display, as a business we mirror this in the adaptability of Team mgr; the reliability of our strong roots in promoting growth and expansion; and the continued dedication to our business’ evolution.

Our time at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show also goes hand-in-hand with our ongoing rebrand project, as we continue to consider mgr’s business direction, our own environmental impact and how we can provide the most efficient, resilient service to our clients. We’re excited to see what’s next for our business… but for now, why not re-live the elegance and serenity of the Chelsea Flower Show, in our video message:
